So this week was awesome!
Guess what?? I WENT TO DENTON!!!!! :D Not only Denton, but the institute, I felt like I was home. It was so nice! I even got to see some old friends in the ward! MADE MY WEEK!!!! I was so happy to see everything I haven't seen in like a year!!!! Crazy! :):)
First off, I totally forgot to tell y'all about our experience last week going to a Hispanic church...yes...all in espanol. Well it was a concert actually, they get down on their worship time! Seriously, I was yelling at sister Taylor cuz it was so loud. How do people feel the spirit in this?? Haha well, they did have their lyrics on the screen so we sang to it, danced, and all that jazz...very interesting! :p Our investigator, that hasn't come to our church yet, loves her church...but we're hoping when she comes to ours, she can recognize the spirit. But it was a fun experience! :)
So this week I was writing in my journal on my bed while sis T was in the shower and I see something run in the corner of my eye...look...see nothing. So I keep staring, and a mouse runs into the closet! NOO!!! We have a mouse!! So I start screaming!! And Sister Taylors like 'WHAT???' Well I tell her and she tells me to catch it...oh ok cool. I'll just do that! Well I actually used some smarts in this brain, and made it run into our mirror with it having no where else to go, and I put a garbage can over it...and then it starts jumping and pushing it! Gosh darn you!!! So I had to sit on it not knowing what to do without Sis T...well. Guess who decided to take the longest shower in ancient history?? Sister Taylor! But when she got out she was amazed at my skill ;) and then we were trying to figure out how to get it out...this is how the convo went:
me: 'maybe we can get it the same way we get the spiders (which is putting a paper under it and then flipping it so it cant get out)
sis T: *with a huge smile on her face* 'Were gona freeze it????'
'NO!!! Sicko!'
'why not?'
....seriously?? haha! Well we did just that, without putting it in the freezer and successfully got it outside.
That was our fun story of the week!
Just kidding, theres more!
So! We went over to Charlie's house and TOTALLY caught him with a beer! He kept saying 'no that was coke!' LIAR! haha He cant lie to us... So I asked him if I could take the rest of his beer...well this dear sweet man had a ton!!! CHARLIE what are you doing?!?! So we asked to take some and he said that he was trying to 'overcome his temptation' by buying some and having it in the fridge...ok no. So we took some, as sister T said 'Charlie get me my beer!' ....what weird words to hear come out of a missionary's mouth :p so we have some in our hand and im walking down the stairs with them...then realize that we're underage and shouldn't have this in our hands so we went to the grass and I start opening it to pour out. Well I might have shook it while coming down the stairs....cuz it exploded ALL OVER ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!! It's fine, I only smelt like alcohol the whole day. Sister Taylor died! Only I would do this...
So we got to visit some less actives that are trying to come back, it's awesome to see their desires, they just need to be led to actions. We taught Marilyn who has been less active since she was 17, now 38, and she sees the need to come back but she wants to take baby steps and is so afraid to go to church because it's been so long. She also had her home teacher drop off a talk while she was gone that wasn't this months topic at all but was a talk by President Hinckley about 'leaving your nets' and I will say that that was 100% inspired by him. It was exactly what she needed and she realized that there were a lot of 'nets' that she needed to leave to fully come back to Christ. It was very inspirational to just see her desire. We met with her yesterday and she said she probably wouldn't come to church next week. Well, I now have a stronger testimony in the power of bearing testimony, and also there being a difference with being bold and loving while bearing testimony - she cried and said she'd be there next Sunday! These moments are the greatest!
We were also finally able to visit our media referral that we received this past week, its a struggle getting to our area's with little miles, but we were able to have a great lesson with her!! She's golden, her name's Heidi, and she sees that there's been so many reformations and a need for a restoration...very spiritual! She is definitely seeking and we are so excited to continue to teach her! :)
So Luke is another one! We met with him the second time and he kinda came out and stated that he's trying to convert us....uh.... So I learned a lot from this experience because first off, he said that he already know the BOM is not true because he's received his answer from someone about that...well our exchange that went out with us is a convert and we talked about this after but that he honestly thinks that God gave him that answer and that we're telling him that answer was false...how do you work with that? I feel like I have lots to learn and that I really need to teach more with love than anything, cuz who wants to be told their answer is not from God, even though...it wasn't :p
Then the other thing, he told us that 'if we found out that Joseph Smith wasn't a prophet' he wouldn't want us to leave Christianity all together...but as I pondered that question it came to me that if I 'did ever find out that Joseph Smith wasn't a prophet' that would result in the fact that God would not be God, that I know so much of a surety that he is, that if that was false, then God wouldn't be real, and it is because of that full surety and answer that I have received that undeniable answer from God, Himself that it is true. I'm so grateful for the Holy Ghost, that is where we receive the full truth, and it's only through Him can we keep our testimonies.
I love my mission! :)
and as my mission President always says,
'Hurrah for Isreal!' :)
Have a great week!
