Mission scripture

"Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever." Alma 26:12

August in Texas!

Hey y'all!

So happy birthday to grandma Tilton this past week!

My golly it is the best summer in Texas EVER!!!! We got poured on like a bajillion times this week...not a bajillion, but like 5 times :p It was awesome!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But apparently it's not like this in the citys...so we're getting out a bonus. It was crazy!!! It almost blew Sister Taylor away...pretty hilarious!! But it has been mighty nice! :)

This week was so awesome, but to be completely honest, I don't even know why! It was just full! So we had some great days!

Well I wanted to give you a little fun update about our fridge! So remember how last week I told y'all how we caught a mouse and Sister Taylor wanted to keep it? And I was like 'ha ha. No'. Well this week when we got home one night I went to put our phone on the charger and its right by my bed...so imma walkin' and luckly I had my flip flops on at that time, right there, in the middle of the floor, right by my bed, was a dead mouse!!!!!!!!!!! What??? How did it get in??? And how did it die??? Just chillin' there! I screamed! And then sister T sees and was like " NOW WE CAN PUT IT IN OUR FREEZER!!!!!!!!!!!!" "NO!!!!!" "Yes!!! Our spiders need friends!!" ....whats wrong with my companion?! Haha! I wonder this often ;p So she won...its in our freezer now, with our spiders, in a container WITH A LID just chillin by our ice cream...nbd. My life in Decatur...

Another thing! We were driving home one night and our windows are always down and we just enjoy the drive home ... it's an amazing drive back :) ...and while in the midst of enjoying the windows down, sister Taylor just starts screaming and having a seizure right there in the passenger seat. A nasty junebug flew in the truck and landed on her. You'd think she was at the end of her life. Ok. I think this was the funniest thing that I have ever seen!!! I had to pull over because I couldn't drive, and she jumps out of the truck and starts shaking herself while still screaming. Oh the sight if someone else saw. It made my night! This is why we go out two by two :p

We went to, what they call 'Trade Days' up in Bowie (about 45 miles from Decatur...yes still in our area) and we had a family history booth that we had set up and would talk to people about it. Well for the most part, the people we did talk to her generally nice, but there was this one guy that came up and was telling us that we were a cult and normal Christians don't make their members do family history work and that we should think again about doing this....
Cool bro! it's called a 'hobbie' not a requirement! I think the reason why God sent me here to Texas is to just learn to not worry about anything but what I know...I feel like I'm just like 'whatevvs' when it comes to people bashing, yelling at us, telling us we're going to hell, and all that jazz....they are just too darn sweet! I love being told that! :) It makes me laugh! Just a normal occasion in the state of Baptists!

Oh so fun story! So we taught Luke this week again and my goodness. It was a good one! Well first off, we gave him 'Christ's blueprints' talk and he read it, well totally taking everything out and saying "no" ...well actually that's in the New Testament so if you say it's not true then your saying the Bible's not true. But I will say that one of my favorite parts about this meeting was the part about Luke 10:1 talking about Jesus calling the quorum of the 70 and how they went out two by two...well Luke brings up this "actually, that's not true because there was 72!" "um...no it says 70!" So we show him the scripture but in HIS set of scripture, which is a different version, it says there was 72, and nothing about going out two by two. He was caught, and shocked and was like "Wow! I am...perplexed about that!" Then Sister Taylor was like "What? people changed the bible up!? What?!" haha it was really funny, I was trying so hard not to laugh! I wish he could just open his heart...but he did say he would go to church...hopefully he comes next week!

So I am so grateful for what the Book of Mormon does for us, I love seeing it change those we teach as well and seeing the power of it work in them as well. For instance, Charlie has kept every reading commitment we've given him and he is trying so hard to understand it by taking notes, praying about it, etc. He has received so much more understanding and at church this Sunday they were talking about the Book of Mormon and Charlie recognized what story they were talking about and was so excited to know it! It was great! He is progressing so well, he is just still struggling on giving up the alcohol but decided that he was going to quit cold turkey and if it doesn't work, he's going to go get drained out at the hospital. So!!! He is getting there! :)

We were also able to have a great lesson with Chuck and we asked him to prepare to be baptized on August 23rd and we're hoping he will fully commit to it, he still thinks church is boring...my goodness! But he is getting there! He likes Priesthood. That's a good thing!

We also got Sister Powell to come to church this week, who is less active, and it was sooooo awesome! She hasn't been in forever and has been so nervous to come but she did it! Not only that, but when the sacrament was being passed, Sister Taylor passed it to her and she looks at her with tears streaming down her face and says "I'm ready!" I love seeing this! Nothing else compares!!! Later that night we were able to meet with her and she kept saying how great she felt, that it wasn't this "AHHHHHHHHH" *angel sound* feeling but just a great calm feeling. It just makes sense...the Gospel makes sense. I cant understand how people don't believe its true or inspired of God. It is! That was my strong witness this week! I love all of it, the Scriptures, the Doctrine, the Restoration, and most importantly, my Savior. He is my Master and He has chosen me to represent Him. I'm grateful for this privilege to be serving Him! :)

Have a great week! :)
