Mission scripture

"Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever." Alma 26:12

Sista Tilton loves life!

Dear everyone!

Ok! So HAPPY BIRTHDAY JU! and Troy Tomorrow!!! Everyone is getting so old!! Im next...yikes! I don't wana grow up!

Oh. So I totally forgot to say that I have gotten told that I'm the one that looks older...and Sister Tuck looks young...SCORE! That's the first that I don't look like the youngster! But she's older, by two months...

Anywho! What a great week I had! Probably the best in a family ward.

So where to begin...well for starters, Sister Tuck and I were talking the other day about smiling. Just guess what she said. I'll tell you actually ... " I just don't get how people can just smile all the time! " Hhaahahaha ohhh man...HOW CAN YOU NOT?! I just think that's crazy...I feel like a little happy child haha Sister Tilton probs... she cracks me up though!

So we had some awesome experiences this week..

One. We had dinner at the Ulibarri's, whose daughters are Kayla and Karina - our investigators - and their family are Hispanic. And they fed us Tacos. Hold up, not just ordinary tacos. Our kind of tacos!!! Fried tortillas and meat with potatoes in it(except meat was beef) but I felt like HOME!!! It was AWESOME!!! and sooo good! Made me miss Sunday nights at home! But I enjoyed it!:) So get this...made my night...so the mother is a member, but the dad isn't and we were talking to him about the gospel and he had grown up in Utah so knew a lot about Mormons and said he had took the discussions before but didn't agree with a lot of things. So I ask him what things. Don't worry, he said that he didn't believe the BOM was true because apparently there weren't horses there till the Spaniards brought them over.... SERIOUSLY?!!! That was different....I just laughed inside. That's whats causing you to doubt that God still talks to His children?!?!? Man, that made my list of the weirdest excuses EVER!  Who says that?! Haha! People probs...love 'em!

Ok, next thing! Wee had such an amazing experience! Well lots! But theres this lady, Debbie Medford who has been a member her whole life but inactive since she was 17, now in her 40s? Has a husband and daughter, McKayla-12, that aren't members but we went to go visit them. We talked to the guy, Mike, and he told us that McKayla was having heart surgery on Wednesday(this was last sunday) and that he was super scared. We talked to him for a little bit and offered for someone to come over and give a priesthood blessing and he accepted. So on Monday night we had to guys from the ward come with us and we talked with them for awhile and gave McKayla such a great blessing. The Spirit was so strong and undeniable. I LOVE THE SPIRIT!!! :) And the surgery went GREAT!! But that's not all, they came to church too this Sunday!!!!!!! It was SOOOOO AWESOME!!! Mike didn't but they Debbie said that she's going to try to get him to come next time. McKayla loveedddd young womans and was fellowshipped great! AH! I just love it! Such a blessing!

Another blessing! This less active that we meet with, Bro. Bossert, hasn't been for about 7 years and his wife isn't a member but they are both super sweet and hilarious! I just love them! Well last week, idk if I mentioned this, but we went over there last Sunday before church and told Bro Bossert that we were picking him up haha sadly it didn't work, BUT! He said he would this week. AND HE DID!!!! At first we thought he was just saying that but we had dinner with them this week and he was like "Ok, what time do I need to be at church?" YUSS!! He only stayed for Sacrament but man oh man, it was great! :) And were going to watch general conference with him this week. SO stoked!

We also had a the chance to go help someone in our ward move, who doesn't live in our ward boundaries but moved close to it, we got permission to help and her names Jane and has been inactive since she was 17 and had never had a desire to go back. Ever! Until six months ago. We helped her do her kitchen and was able to talk with her one on one about what has happened in the past 6 months. I never knew I could have so much love for a person I barely knew. I just don't even know how to explain what she said without doing it justice....but her 2 year old son drowned in a pool and was told that he was going to make it but didn't. She told us that if we had asked her if she ever would come back to church 2 days before, she would've said 'absolutely not.' but when that happened she wanted God and wanted to know where her son was. I was trying so hard to fight back tears as she was explaining everything and it just made me see that we never know what trials we're going to have, and they hurt. But ever since that happened she has been to church every week.
What a testimony builder it is to me that God really provides a way for His children to come back. She now looks back and see's God was preparing her. God Knows. He knows our sufferings, and He knows what will help us. And how great is it to know that we have a way to come close to Him and receive the answers we so long for through this Church. I know this church is Gods Church. No doubt in my mind, and I really wish that everyone knew that for themselves. Don't give up when you have a hard day, it'll get better! :)

Sister Tilton
