Hola everyone!
so. Happy birthday to my big bro Brandon! :) your getting old...and Hailey! Gosh. Children stop growing!
This week was so great! I don't even remember what happened though...short term memory loss for this sista right here. You'd think my brain would get better being on a mission. Nope!
Well for starters, a lot of our plans failed this week. Nothing new there...
We had a lady tell us that we were some messed up people...oh bless her dear little heart! I love these darn children of God :)
Sister Hamblin had her first bikeride with a skirt and helmet...she wanted to kill me >:) I'm such a great trainer hehe and we just happened to go up a huge honkin hill that I almost died going up. I gona get me some elder quads man!
It got so hot here...it was only in the high 80s...I think I might die this summer. I already have half my body tanned from driving in the car...literally. It's so good looking. I feel like the two-faced :p Oh and don't worry, I got out my chapstick to put on and didn't realize it was completely melted...got all over my face. See pic. It's a great one.
So we had a cool experience this week. So since our plans and backup plans all failed we were parked trying to look for a place to go and I look up and I see this man in the distance walking and my first thought was "he needs a card" then I doubted myself and thought "he's not even gona walk this way." Wrongo! He did. I muttered 'oh shoot!' and sister Hamblin looked at me like 'what?' So I told her and then she was like "ok hes walking up here, what do I do?' So we roll the window down and when he walked my we said hi and he said it back and continued to walk...FAIL! So then I felt stupid and was feeling bad...then I look to my other side and hes walking down again. So I quickly grab a card and slipped on my shoe (idk why it was even off...) and when I looked up he was too far. IDIOT SISTER TILTON! So I totally felt terrible. Im responsible for this guys salvation now...so what did we do?? Felt like total stalkers and followed this man with our car to where we could pull up by him. No worries. I just feel like a creep! But we did it! He had gone seen tab choir before but wasn't interested. Took the card though! So idk where that will lead to but im glad that that prompting was acted upon. LIFE OF A MISSIONARY!
We got a lot of service this week...compared to the usual! We helped out with the youth doing peoples yard work...went to a house where they denied us service. Ha! Gotcha! And helped out another person in the ward cleaning out her garage...I love service! Just wish we could get more!!
Ok so I've come to a realization that when I come to visit my mission, the reason I will come to Keller is because of:
-Our Relief Society President - Sister Park...she is AMAZING!!!! I want to be just like her when I grow up :p
Funny moment. So they fed us and she was talking about how she waited for her husband on his mission and how she didn't kiss anyone the whole time. So how she explained it:
"Yep. Not one. Their was only one who didn't try to kiss me..." then had a confused look and that hit her and she was like "hmmm..." I think I died! It was the most funniest thing I've ever seen! Bro Park was dying! Moments like these... :p
-And good o'l Bosserts! They are such a crack up! Theyre less active/part member and oh so funny! I found out that Dianna(not a member) is 13 years older than her husband...Bro Bossert was like 'yep shes a cougar' haha! And she's almost 70!!!!!!!!! WHAT?!! I thought they were in their late 50s...wrong again. Shocker to me! But they are pretty amazing...I just love working with them!
We watched a general conference talk with them and made them take notes...Bro Bossert wrote one word down haha!! He looked at ours and was like "GOSH are you writing a novel or something?!" One thing that we talked to them about was about following God and not going or taking part in worldly things that we cant take with us. Dianna calls us by our first names...its really weird for me...but she was like
"wait....Shayla....are you saying that I cant drink beer?"
"you got it!"
"But its sooo good!!!"
"Your telling me that when you first tasted it you liked it??"
.....(thinking)
She knows it!!! She's just a little stubborn lady!!! They'll get it one day... life!
Last but not least... we had an AMAZING lesson with the Medfords last night! The Spirit was so strong and it went soooo well!!! So Debbie's LA and her husband and daughter aren't members. So we taught them the restoration and the Spirit was totally there and it was the first time for Sister Hamblin to extend the baptismal invitation. They accepted but don't want to now. Which is good cuz they need a stronger testimony but ahhh!!! it was amazing!! Times like these = missions are totally worth it!
Greatest life ever! I love it :)
Go share the gospel with someone...help with the Lords work!!
Sister Tilton
