Mission scripture

"Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever." Alma 26:12

#missionarylife

Hey y'all! :)

Life is great in the state of Texas! My sleeping on the couch in the kitchen is still happening! :p gotta love it!

Nothing really fantastically exciting or embarrassing happened to me this week...weird right? that's not normal Sister Tilton... but a couple things with Charlie, but first :

We met with Sister Powell this week, the one that hasn't been to church in forever and is now wanting to come back, we met with her last night and she had an awesome Sunday and week. She, first off, read her scriptures everyday, which she felt so accomplished, she could tell the complete difference, and she received so many answers to her prayers. She realized that in order for her to meet the needs of her family, she'd have to go back to work part time to make enough to provide, but then her husband called her (he works in the oil fields) and told her he had an unexpected raise and it was the exact amount they needed to be coming in. Awesome!! But then she said that she could see her daughter (13) is struggling and when they went to church, when they were leaving (cuz they only stay for the first hour), some people in the ward that knew Reagan (the daughter) when she was younger, ran out and started to talk to them in the parkinglot and asked if she could come to mutual AND stay the full 3 hours of church next week. And she committed. Sister Powell was so amazed at how much the Lord blessed her with such great answers to her prayers - it was more than she expected. It was so great to see her light shining! She knows for a surety that this is what she needs to be doing. How great it is to know that we can be so much more happier living the gospel. We're blessed ten fold. Just amazing! :)

Next is Charlie. God answered my prayers this week with him as well. So he received money that he wasn't expecting and was able to pay off the bills he hadn't been able to pay for, as well as get his phone turned on and get some food for him. He was so excited how much God blessed him that he decided to share it with us. He could feel the difference, an emptiness inside, when he wasn't reading the scriptures and it was a different feeling going to another church. So he has started back reading and praying, but back on his daily W.O.W. problems.

And here's where the funny part comes in. So we're trying to help him get back in to what he was doing before, and he even did this, not us - poured out his copenhagen, cigs, and alcohol! Yay! It was a cool sight to see! But it just started by me asking him to throw out the cope, he didn't want to at first but he was finally convinced. So he opened it and threw it off the balcony thing. Then he walks inside and grabs his cigs and at first we were like 'great, now he's mad..' then he comes out and starts ripping them and threw them out too. What? He thought we asked him to...haha jokes on him, he did it on his own! :p it was hilarious! but he felt better. Then he goes and gets his beer and pours it out....got that on video! AND THEN he goes and gets his ash tray and went to throw it out and immediately the wind blew and Sister Bangs ATE it!!!! Completely!!! She was covered in the ashes. It was soooooooooooooooooo funny!!!!!!!!! She smelt pretty great the rest of the day...hahhah not...ohh! If only I had that on camera! I'd make millions! So anyways, his friends are now the issue...again! They think he's back to his normal self so they come over with alcohol again....lamo's! Cant give up though! He will get it some day! And I hope soon.

We met with Miguel also this week! We had a great lesson on the gospel of Jesus Christ and he loved it!!! He's been thinking about baptism all week and wants it! But struggling to see how this will work cuz he has to get married but we don't want him to get married for the wrong reason since they have some problems...and she still doesn't know that he's meeting with the missionaries. Ahh!!! Missionary life is sooo stressful! Only these people's eternal salvations we're working on. No. Big. Deal!

So I just have to say that I love this ward! They are awesome!! :) Love all of them!

Well that's just about all it! Hope y'all have a great week! :)
